When it comes to creating the perfect kids’ room, there are a few things to consider to make sure it is both functional and beautiful. One of the first things to think about is the bed size. Do you want to go for a single bed or a double bed that will grow with them for a lot longer? If you have a separate playroom, you may want to consider opting for a double bed so their room can be more of a sleeping space and keep the toys in the playroom. However, if space is limited, a single bed might be the best option.
If their room does need to double as a sleeping space and play space, the most important thing to consider is storage. It's important to have plenty of storage solutions in place to keep toys and belongings organised. I personally love toy boxes that double as a bench seat (thank you Ikea), bed frames with room underneath for extra storage, and utilizing the vertical space in the room with shelves.

Once you have the practical aspects sorted out, it's time to make the room look beautiful and reflect your child's personality and interests. My advice is to start with a neutral palette and build from there. We all know how quickly kids interests change, almost as often as their outfits, so it's best to keep the base of the room simple and add pops of colour or themes with decor and soft furnishings. Instead of going all out with a Frozen bed set, consider adding soft blue and white tones with a feature character cushion and small décor items placed around the room.
When it comes to decorating the walls, I highly recommend using removable decals instead of painting or wallpapering. Decals are easy to apply, won't damage the walls, and can be easily changed as your child's interests evolve. They are a great way to add a fun touch to the room without committing to a permanent design.

Overall, creating the perfect kids’ room is all about finding the right balance between functionality and aesthetics. By carefully considering the bed size, storage options, and decor choices, you can create a space that your child will love spending time in. And remember, you can have fun with the design and let your child's personality shine through while still creating a space that works with the rest of your home!
